Keep Your Brain Healthy! How? and Can We Really Improve the Health of Our Brain?

Learning a second language is beneficial at any stage of life. In a recent study in Edinburgh, UK, participants were tested at age 11 and then again while in their 70s. Those who spoke at least one language in addition to English had above average scores in cognitive function and intelligence–regardless of what age they were when the language was learned or what language it was. Researchers determined that the improvements in attention, focus and fluency could not be explained by original intelligence. The findings indicate that learning a second language helps with general intelligence and cognitive brain functions.
