Belgian Dinner with Flair
We begin our Cooking series with
“Let us serve you”
Relax, enjoy, be delighted and enlightened by these Multi-Cultural themed dinners.
Once a month, beginning in December 2014, we will prepare a meal for you and take you through its inner secrets. We have chosen both familiar and not-as-known dishes for you to enjoy. Our teachers are the planners of the meal and our moderators will guide you through it.
Our scheduled meals are listed below along with the name of the moderator who will be your guide. All meals are held at 10 Ferry Road, Rexford, NY, a quaint and historic country home.
On March 15th 2015: Enjoy a fully prepared dinner with a focus on Belgian Cuisine. Join us for our Belgian Dinner with a Flair. Moderator Susan Comninos is an award winning poet and journalist; the conversation is sure to be interesting and intellectual. Susan will be a guest lecturer this summer at The Language Learning Institute.
This is a Bring Your Own Bottle of Red Wine or Belgian Been to Share Event
This Belgian Dinner will feature:
Witlof roomsoep/soupe de crème d’endive (cream of belgian endive soup)
Vlaamse Karbonade/Carbonnade à la flamande (flemish style beef with beer)
Aardappel purée/purée de pommes de terre (mashed potatoes)
Belgische Chocolade mousse/mousse au chocolat belge (Belgian chocolate mousse)
pickles, green salad and bread
Coffee and tea
***Due to Winter Break The Argentinian meal will be held the FIRST Friday in February***
On February 6th 2015: Enjoy a fully prepared dinner designed to immerse you in Argentine culture and cuisine. Join Miriam, your Spanish teacher, as she guides you through a delectable Argentinean meal.
This Argentinean Dinner will feature: Empanadas mendocinas, Matambre con chimichurri, puré de papas, ambrosia, mate, y café con leche
***On January 9th2015: Enjoy a fully prepared dinner designed to immerse you in the Italian regional culture and cuisine. Join Rachel, your Italian teacher, as she guides you through a delectable Italian meal.
This Italian Dinner will feature: Crostini toscani con pate del fegato del pollo, Risotto alla Milanese, Pescespada alla palermitana, Castagnaccio, and espresso
***On December 12th 2014: Enjoy a fully prepared dinner designed to immerse you in French culture and cuisine. Join Anouk, your French teacher, as she guides you through an enticing French meal.
This French Dinner will feature: Crudités variées et charcuterie, Coq au vin, Gratin dauphinois, salade, fromage, and Compote de fruit avec crème anglaise
All dinners take place at 10 Ferry Drive, Rexford, NY; a beautiful and quaint country home.
