Learn to Speak a Language & Travel

The Learn to Speak a Language and Travel division of the school was started in July 2004. It is designed to complement private and group instruction and to include all other travelers who are interested in the history and culture of the French Speaking World but do not want to formally study French.

Each trip includes a number of 1 hour classes prior to departure as well as guidance and instruction while on the trip. During the classes, you will meet your fellow travelers, study some of the history and culture of the areas to be visited and learn some French in order to be able to read the menu and order. Each culture has its own world of foods indigenous to its area and we will be addressing these as well so that you can thoroughly enjoy what you will be experiencing.

Time is also spent reviewing trip questions such as dress, money, and other concerns that you may have.

Enjoy as you peruse some of the photos of our past trips and watch for date announcements of future travel opportunities.

What Our Students Are Saying

“Planning a visit to Quebec province, I decided to attend a set of adult evening classes given by Nancy Scarselletta at a local high school. Her enthusiasm for, and knowledge of, the French language prompted me to sign up for further individual lessons. Over the last two years, I have come to appreciate Nancy’s vast experience –and infinite patience! — in teaching French with her unique emphasis on phonetics which she studied at the Sorbonne. In my opinion, French is not an easy language for English speakers given its unusual rules with multiple exceptions, potential liaisons, numerous irregular verbs, unfamiliar phonics, and plentiful idioms. I’ve appreciated Nancy’s approach and guidance throughout the course. And it’s been fun.”
